Packing a bike, layer by layer
Most scratched tanks and snapped mirrors come from poor packing. Not from the road.
Foam first
Foam sheet wraps the wheels, mirrors and handlebars. These are the bits that touch other things inside a truck, so they get padded before anything else, and levers and indicators get a little extra because they break so easily.
Board over the body
Corrugated board then goes over the tank, side panels and seat. Knocks and rubs land on the board instead of your paint, which matters more than most riders expect, because one deep scratch across a tank panel can cost more to put right than the whole trip did.
Film to hold it all
Stretch film is wound around the whole bike, pulling foam and board tight. The side stand is left reachable. That way the bike can still be parked and pushed by hand without anyone cutting the wrap.
Removable extras like a top box, saddle bags or a crash guard come off and go into a small carton of their own, together with the mirrors if we’ve unscrewed them.
